No Treble: Minnesota State College Southeast Alum Gary Bartig
Meghan Trainor was right. It really is all about the bass. Especially if you’re Gary Bartig, a graduate of Minnesota State College Southeast, a technical and community college with campuses in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes.”
In the mid-‘90s, Bartig graduated from the MSCS Red Wing campus’ prestigious instrument repair program, where he learned how to build and repair violins, guitars, trumpets and the like. Today, he is the manufacturer of the Eminence Portable Upright Bass, which is considered the BEST PORTABLE UPRIGHT BASS IN THE WORLD.
If you’re curious, you can hear Gary’s instruments being played by Grammy Awardwinning performers Esperanza Spalding and Byron House, and on tour with bands like Modest Mouse, Emmylou Harris, Yonder Mountain String Band, Vampire Weekend and more.
Whether or not you prefer bass or treble, one thing is for sure: Gary Bartig is #CCReal. He’s a great example of what it means to be a community college grad. He’s a real person whose degree has helped him make a real difference.
